I have the most experience teaching piano, but I also teach singing, songwriting, music theory, and worship leader development. I will work with students on a short-term basis for contest or performance preparation. Lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes long. Some people combine piano and voice lessons. These lessons need to be at least 45 minutes long.
If you are interested in taking lessons, feel free to set up a time to meet or do a free 20 minute trial lesson! If you're a parent, you may want to check out the person who will be spending a lot of time with your child. If you're an adult, you may just want to make sure I'm a good fit.
This varies based on where you live and on the length of your lesson. Since remote lessons take me to many different places, the going rate can vary by a lot. Please contact me to find out the price in your area.
Once you’ve scheduled a regular lesson time with me, you reserve that time by paying at or before the first lesson of each month: cash, check, Zelle or Venmo. This is a monthly fee which holds your spot for 4 lessons. It also covers the cost of resources I offer, recital fees, and some group activities (if in person). If a lesson is missed, it can be made up during the last week of the month on a weekday that has 5 calendar days in that month or the following month. No shows are not refunded or rescheduled. You pay for your lesson books.
I do ask that students plan to set aside time for regular practice of what is covered in lessons. I give clear practice instructions and help with goal-setting. The more days you practice means more repetition of skills which equals PROGRESS!
For online piano lessons, I use FaceTime or Zoom. You need to have good internet and provide a quiet space for the time of your lesson. Your device should be placed at the upper (right) end of the instrument in a way that I can see your hands on the keyboard as well as your upper body. This may take some creativity so plan ahead!
I know many students are nervous to start lessons because there are a lot of unknowns in this one-on-one relationship. You should know that as a teacher, I'm often a little anxious as well. I do my best to make sure you are comfortable and that you have a great experience in your learning adventure.
Students progress at different rates. I will work with you at a pace that you are comfortable with. I also tailor lessons to fit the learning style of each student.
Oftentimes students want to learn a song that isn’t in the lesson book. I am happy to try to find the music at an appropriate level and work on it during lessons.
